Define e-commerce concepts and describe how e-commerce differs from commerce in general.Uber has a demand-based service paradigm. The idea is that clients may access Uber services at any time through their mobile devices. The Uber app enables users to create a free account and request Uber services at any time. In addition, the software enables consumers to anticipate the cost of their journey and gives the option to use a credit card for payment. Thus, Uber offers a great degree of ease to its customers. Uber has altered the industry’s operations in comparison to the conventional taxi sector. Customers may now book rides in a more convenient way and at a lesser price than they could in the past with conventional taxis (Grabher & Tuijl, 2020). Uber drivers have also profited since the App has increased their revenue relative to what they earned with conventional taxi companies. Uber provides its drivers with more freedom, since they may pick when to work and are not required to constantly report to a workplace, as is the case with official employment. Uber’s owners have also profited from not having to spend expenditures when employing personnel, since drivers join up to work for the firm without necessarily being its employees. Since the firm does not own the vehicles, it saves money on maintenance and insurance. This is not the case with conventional taxis, which are owned by the company. It is possible to accuse Uber and e-commerce in general of digital disruption. Traditional firms have been negatively impacted by the emergence of the new business paradigm (Anwar, 2018). For example, Uber’s fares are far lower than those charged by conventional taxi companies. Consequently, clients have abandoned them in favor of Uber’s more convenient and less expensive choices. Similarly, companies operating via e-commerce may save operational expenses such as those associated with renting office space and getting company licenses. This has allowed them to minimize operating expenses, allowing them to sell their items at prices below those given by physical stores (Skok & Baker, 2019). Consequently, the capacity of Uber and other e-commerce enterprises to attract more customers and seize a large market share from the conventional industry is often referred to as digital disruption.
