At various stages throughout gestation, mothers will experience increased levels of hormones such as estrogen and progesterone which can contribute to swelling of the breasts, weight gain, and enlarged abdomen. Additionally, other physical changes may occur during pregnancy including back pain due to additional stress on spine, pelvic discomfort associated with increasing size of uterus, intestinal cramps linked to slowed digestion process, as well as headaches caused by fluctuating hormones. Finally, it is also important to note that any underlying chronic conditions or complications while pregnant should be discussed with a healthcare provider in order to ensure proper care is provided throughout gestation.
