The product I have chosen for this perceptual map is a smartphone. The important attributes for this type of product include cost, battery life, processor performance, design/aesthetics, display size and quality, camera resolution/features, storage capacity and operating system.

Two key variables that can be used to create the perceptual map are cost and operating system. Cost is an important attribute because it helps consumers decide on how much they are willing to pay for a particular device while still getting their desired features. Operating system is also an important variable since most smartphones today come with either iOS or Android pre-installed which will determine what types of applications can be used on the device as well as its overall user experience.
