Relationships are a sensitive topic. As financial disputes and failures can be a predictor of the future success or failure of a relationship over time, Mary Loftus claims. The question is whether the couple’s financial settlements ultimately decide the success of their relationship.
My opinion is that how a couple resolves their financial differences plays an important role in their relationship’s success. A couple that is open and honest about finances can help strengthen and sustain their marriage and allow them to work together on financial issues. If a couple cannot have honest and open communication regarding their finances it can cause resentment and mistrust which could ultimately result in the end of their relationship.
Importantly, financial difficulties and disappointments do not determine the outcome of a relationship. The success of any relationship is also determined by other factors like trust, communication and shared value.
