Theories are critical to the nursing profession. They drive research and practice. Nursing professionals use theory to help them identify the most important information in order to perform their daily work. These codes are the foundation of medical practice. As such, nurses can use them to understand the limitations and scope of the profession and how they interact with their patients and managers. Chin & Kramer, 2018, p. 185 state that a theory can be described as an imaginative and thorough organization of ideas that project a tentative and meaningful perspective on many events. Conceptual structures, such as symbols and words that help to create meaning in specific situations, are used by the theory to articulate its concepts. To establish the logical links between these notions and create a purpose, they must be defined. Theorists are responsible for the construction of the theory’s meaning. This indicates that the theory can be applied to certain facts. It is essential that the theorists create the theory with a clear purpose. A theory must be clear and have an objective in order to become well-known. In addition, the authors recommend that instead of describing the physical characteristics of the observed phenomenon, theories should provide a deeper explanation for the components (Chinn & Kramer, 2018). The authors propose concepts that allow people to see beyond what is visible.
Because theories provide the foundation for the development of nursing philosophies, they play an important role in the profession. The text’s definition serves to explain why a theory is regarded as a well-articulated instrument for comprehending and describing ideas within the profession (Yu & Song, 2021). This definition of theories I accept. This description captures all the key characteristics of an accepted hypothesis. The theory’s ideas must be linked in order to create a sense and aid others in understanding the information. The definition encourages closer scrutiny of the theory’s meaning, which in turn gives confidence. This section of the definition emphasizes how theories are tried and true concepts that can be applied to a deeper understanding of the phenomena under study, thus allowing for new insights and explorations of new possibilities.
