American society has changed over time to be a special group. Around one third of Americans are members of a marginalized or ethno-racial minority. Sexual perspectives are one of the most fascinating psychopathological aspects about sexuality. However, they have been relatively understudied in different cultural groups. Most ethnic groups have different definitions of what sexuality means. This is due to differences in legal and historical aspects as well as demographic factors. According to the table, non-religious African Americans living in the LGBTQ community tend to think that they are strict traditionalists. Euro-Americans and Hispanics on the other hand are more open-minded. Hispanics view adultery and premarital sexual sex differently to Euro-Americans. Rahman et. al. According to Rahman et al. (2020), Asians tend to be more conservative in regards sexuality, especially in relation gender roles in intimate, homosexuality and oral sex.
Asians have a more traditional view of sexuality than any other ethnic group. They have a tradition view of gender and sexual relations and oral sex. Hispanics, Asians and Euro-Americans have a higher percentage of sexual assimilation than Hispanics. Rahman and colleagues. According to Rahman and colleagues (2020), there’s a strong correlation between sexual conservatism, religious belief, and piety among people who are usually called by their pronouns in Euro-American and Asian households. A person’s Christian faith is a major influence on the level of traditionalalism in Euro-Americans and Asians. But, it is unclear if there is a connection between religions and homophobic stereotypes and sexual contact in the Hispanic group. Acculturation does not appear to counter the effect of spirituality in sexual orientation stereotypes. It is clear that there are two types of effects on sexual orientation stereotypes: cultural assimilation and religious prejudices.
Stereotypes refer to images of people that represent the characteristics, interests, or behaviors of certain groups. Ghavami & Peplau (2018) state that stereotyping can cause a variety of social problems, such as influencing relationships with others, inciting prejudice, reinforcing preconceived notions and influencing them. Comparable to Euro-Americans and Hispanics, Asians, as well as those from the “other”, group, African-Americans, Hispanics and Asians experience greater racial inequality. Because they have been ostracized, it’s more difficult for them come out and be gay. One of the clichés associated with the LGBTQ community is that they are more promiscuous than other persons, hence contributing to the spread of HIV/AIDS and STDs. A majority of people think it is impossible for a person to be both gay or religious. However, this is false as the LGBTQ community seeks spiritual fulfillment just like any other individual. Some people are predisposed towards LGBTQ communities because they have certain beliefs.
