When selecting a nursing theory to guide my practice in psychotherapy I will draw from the Neuman Systems Model. This model promotes an individualized approach to care by taking into account all factors which impact wellbeing such as physical, psychological, social and spiritual components . The goal is for each patient to be able to maintain optimum health & balance within their environment despite the presence of stressors .

For counseling theory I will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which focuses on addressing negative thought patterns & behaviors through exploring how these relate to feelings associated with certain situations. This type of therapy encourages clients to become aware of their beliefs & reactions in order to better manage emotions & gain insight into problems they are facing in life. By combining both theories together we can create an effective treatment plan that addresses multiple aspects of health while also emphasizing personal growth.

Through utilizing the Neuman Systems Model & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when conducting psychotherapy I am confident that patients will experience greater success when navigating any challenges they face. By providing individualized care while also stressing the importance of self-reflection ,we can help clients develop useful skills which will benefit them throughout life.
