The current health care administration leadership issue I selected is the lack of diversity in healthcare leadership roles. This issue interests me because, despite having a diverse patient population, our healthcare system still has an overwhelmingly homogeneous leadership structure. I am passionate about equity and inclusion and believe that by promoting more diverse leaders we can create a healthier medical culture that is better able to meet the needs of all patients.

I believe the information gathered in this course can be applied to my future dissertation research and role as a scholar-practitioner in two ways. First, understanding key theories such as transformational leadership will help me to develop interventions aimed at increasing diversity among healthcare administrators. Secondly, learning about change management strategies such as Lewin’s Change Theory will allow me to effectively evaluate these interventions and measure their impact on creating more inclusive health systems.

Having knowledge of both theory and practice related to healthcare administration will make me better equipped to address the issue of lack of diversity in executive positions within organizations. My goal is to use this knowledge to not only improve outcomes for patients but also set an example for other aspiring leaders from marginalized communities who may feel excluded from entering into such roles .
