For this answer, I will discuss changes nurses have made to achieve the competency of using evidence-based practice (EBP). Evidence-based practice is a process in which medical professionals use research studies combined with their own clinical expertise and patient preferences to make decisions about healthcare. In order to use EBP effectively, nurses must be knowledgeable about current research and trends in healthcare. As such, many nursing schools now offer courses or programs that focus specifically on developing skills for EBP. Additionally, many hospitals and other healthcare settings now require nurses to complete continuing education courses related to EBP in order to maintain their license.

Nursing organizations are also making efforts to promote the adoption of EBP by providing resources and creating networks for sharing experiences among practitioners. Furthermore, technology has been an important tool in helping nurses access data quickly and accurately so they can incorporate it into their decision making processes. Finally, increased collaboration between physicians and nurses has resulted in greater communication and understanding between the two groups as well as more effective implementation of evidence-based practices throughout the healthcare system.
