During the early stages of Lyme disease, the IgM antibodies are elevated. As the infection progresses, the IgM levels will start to decrease while the IgG levels begin to increase. In the later stages of the disease, the IgG levels will continue to rise and can remain elevated even after the infection has been treated. It is important to note that the interpretation of IgG and IgM antibody levels in Lyme disease diagnosis can be complex and should be done in conjunction with other clinical and laboratory findings.
