My first priority is developing an understanding of the current healthcare environment so that I can accurately identify challenges faced by nurses at all levels. This includes staying up-to-date with changes in regulations and policies across all care settings. To further enhance my knowledge of healthcare organizations and management practices, I plan on taking courses related to health economics, informatics systems design and project management. Furthermore, I am actively engaging with other nurse leaders through conferences or seminars in order to gain insight into best practices within their organizations and how they address current challenges or opportunities in nursing care delivery.
In addition to gaining knowledge about the healthcare system itself, it is equally important for me as a nurse leader to understand how people interact within an organization’s culture while providing care at multiple points along the continuum from community and home settings down through acute care facilities. To this end, it will be beneficial for me take coursework related to human resources management where I can learn about issues such as recruitment/retention strategies for clinicians; implementation of patient safety measures; effective communication techniques between staff members; employee engagement initiatives; work/life balance programs; etc.. All these topics will help equip me with necessary tools required for managing teams of both clinical professionals as well as nonclinical personnel working together within same framework provide highest quality patient centered care possible .
