Where and how are decisions made in your organization? How can you be invited to the table to be an active participant in decision making that influences your practice?

Decisions in my organization are typically made through a collaborative process between managers and staff, with the manager usually making the final call. This is done through weekly or monthly meetings where ideas and opinions can be exchanged in order to come up with the best possible solution for any given situation. As a staff member I have been invited to these meetings on several occasions as an active participant in decision making that directly affects my practice.

In order to ensure that I am invited to such gatherings, it is important that I regularly keep management informed of any projects or initiatives which I may be involved in as well as suggestions which could help streamline operations overall. Furthermore, by proactively taking on additional responsibilities within the organization—such as helping out with training new employees or developing more efficient processes—I can help demonstrate my commitment to becoming an integral part of the team’s decision-making apparatus. Through this approach, I hope to eventually become an even more active contributor when it comes time for key decisions to be made.
