Describe at least one approach using the three levels of health promotion prevention (primary, secondary, and tertiary) that is likely to be the most effective given the unique needs of the minority group you have selected.

Given the unique needs of my chosen minority group, which is Native Americans, I believe one of the most effective approaches to health promotion and prevention would be through a integrating a combination of primary, secondary and tertiary level interventions. At the primary level, education and outreach initiatives could be implemented to help increase awareness among this population about available healthcare services as well as healthy lifestyle choices such as nutrition and physical activity. This could also include introducing cultural practices such as traditional healing methods or outdoor activities that are specific to their tribes.

At the secondary level, preventive screenings should be widely offered in order to identify potential health issues at an early stage. For example, Native Americans have higher rates of diabetes compared to other racial groups so regular glucose testing is essential for early detection. Additionally, this community may be more likely than others to suffer from mental health related problems due to disruption caused by historical trauma; therefore access to quality mental health resources should also be provided.

Finally, at the tertiary level interventions can focus on providing adequate treatment plans for those already suffering from chronic illnesses or disabilities. By combining these three levels together it allows us not only target current health concerns but also build a foundation for long-term healthy lifestyle practices among this community.
