Are consumers adequately protected from hazardous chemicals when they receive services in the nail salons?

The safety of consumers in nail salons is a major concern as many of the products used contain hazardous chemicals which can be dangerous if not used properly. Unfortunately, it is difficult to ascertain the extent to which consumers are adequately protected from these hazards due to lack of regulation and oversight in this industry.

Various studies have identified potential risks involved with certain salon services such as airway irritation/asthma induced by nail polish fumes, skin irritation due to contact with chemicals in polishes or glues etc. Additionally, some states require licensing for salons but other areas may not have any regulations at all.

Overall, it appears that consumers are not adequately protected from hazardous chemicals when receiving services in nail salons due to insufficient laws/regulations and lack of enforcement where they do exist.
