Cultural and spiritual practice ppt presentation
1. History and traditional beliefs:
The cultural group I have chosen is the Mexican-American community. Historically, this population has had to deal with a variety of challenges due to their unique position as both Mexican and American citizens. During the 19th century, many Mexicans were forced from their homes in Mexico due to political unrest or economic hardship resulting in their migration northward into the United States where they encountered racism and discrimination upon arrival.
In terms of traditional beliefs, some members of this community may hold strong religious convictions such as Catholicism while others may adhere to more ancient Indigenous traditions. Additionally, there is an emphasis on family values which can be seen in various aspects of daily life including food consumption and interpersonal interactions.
2. Socialization practices:
Within the Mexican-American community socialization often occurs through extended family networks which serve to reinforce core values and provide support during difficult times. In addition, there is also a strong focus on education with parents encouraging children to pursue higher learning opportunities so that they can achieve a better quality of life than what was experienced by previous generations.
This process starts at home where children learn important lessons from their parents such as respect for authority or responsibility towards one’s self and others – instilling these principles early on helps ensure that individuals will be able to live up to expectations even when faced with adversity.
3. The impact of acculturation:
As members of this culture begin immigrating further into the United States it is becoming increasingly common for them to face issues related acculturation – meaning having difficulty adjusting one’s culture/beliefs with those found in new surroundings without completely abandoning their roots.
For example, language barriers can create problems when trying seek out medical care or other resources while also making communication within families more difficult as younger generations become used speaking English instead of Spanish (or vice versa). Additionally, financial pressures associated with immigration status may prevent some individuals from achieving certain goals such as obtaining higher education or obtaining employment in specific industries leading them down alternate paths than originally planned – all things considered it becomes evident that proper guidance and support are essential if we hope to ease this transitionary period for newcomers moving forward
4 Elder roles/ traditions:
Within Mexican-American communities elders typically play an important role by transmitting knowledge about cultural customs/practices between generations as well passing down stories which help establish a sense identity amongst younger family members.
By helping keep traditions alive elders often act as embodiments history providing valuable insight into how certain habits originated why they remain important today –– this includes topics such celebrating holidays maintaining health relationships upholding religious beliefs etc… Additionally elderly persons are also looked upon offer wisdom advice comforting words whenever needed providing crucial emotional support within smaller units larger communities .

Public health policies generally revolve around improving overall well-being through preventative measures access services etc…. For much same reason these regulations particularly relevant members Mexican American community due widespread inequality disparities exist regionally nationally .
