How will you keep the lines of communication open when a student disagrees with your grading?

When a student disagrees with my grading, I will work to keep the lines of communication open by first listening to their perspective and trying to understand why they are unhappy with my assessment. By doing so, I can address any points of misunderstanding or confusion before addressing the grade itself. Additionally, I believe it’s important to remain calm and professional throughout the discussion in order to foster a positive dialogue where both parties feel heard and respected.

I will also take into consideration any evidence that may support their claims such as additional assignments or notes from previous exams which could demonstrate mastery of course material. If necessary, I am also willing to review any assessments or offer further guidance on how best to improve future performance. Ultimately, my goal is ensure full transparency while also maintaining an equitable system for all students.
