Leading and managing in nursing | HCS301 Undergraduate Nursing Studies | University of Phoenix
Leadership is the ability to motivate, direct and guide people towards a common goal. For example, a leader might be responsible for setting strategic objectives, issuing orders to their team, and providing support/guidance in order to ensure that tasks are completed on time and with high quality.
Management is the act of exercising control over resources (e.g., finances, personnel) in order to achieve specific tasks or goals. For instance, a manager may be in charge of budgeting funds for projects as well as recruiting new staff members while also overseeing daily operations within an organization.
Coaching involves providing guidance and direction in order to help others develop skills or knowledge which will enable them to perform better at their job. An example of this would be a leader who takes time out from their regular duties in order to mentor someone on their team – imparting strategies which have worked for them in the past as well as providing constructive feedback when needed.
