Discuss the similarities and differences between Classical Greek and Elizabethan Theater.

The similarities between Classical Greek and Elizabethan theater include the use of an audience to witness performances, a proscenium arch which separates the stage from the seating area, and costuming that is intended to bring characters to life. Additionally, both styles rely heavily on storytelling through dialogue as well as music and dance in order to captivate their audiences.

However, there are also some key differences between these two theatrical forms. For example, whereas Classical Greek theater relies more heavily on tragedy for its narratives – in Elizabethan plays comedy is often employed as a means of entertainment. There is also the aspect of spectacle which was introduced during this period with larger sets being used to create grandiose scenes or elaborate special effects. Finally, while Ancient Greek plays were typically performed outdoors – Elizabethan productions took place indoors allowing for greater flexibility in terms of staging and lighting design.
