Week 3 discussion 2 ethics
My personal and professional background heavily influenced how I interacted with the patient in the exercise. As a medical doctor with experience treating patients from many different backgrounds, I was able to approach the situation with empathy and understanding. My past experiences helped me identify which questions needed to be asked in order to accurately assess the patient’s condition and determine an appropriate course of action. Furthermore, my training allowed me to explain medical concepts clearly and concisely so that the patient could understand their treatment options. On a more personal level, my upbringing gave me insight into how cultural beliefs can impact one’s willingness or reluctance when it comes to seeking out medical care; this knowledge made it easier for me to build trust between myself and the patient so that they would feel comfortable discussing any issues they may have been hesitant about initially. All these factors combined enabled me take an informed yet caring approach when interacting with the patient which ultimately resulted in them receiving quality medical attention despite any hesitations or reservations they may have had going into our conversation.
