Substantive posting requirements typically require you to do more than just give a brief response to a peer’s post. You should acknowledge what your peer stated by summarizing or restating their main points and indicating whether you agree or disagree with them. You should also include additional information that relates to the topic or expands upon your peer’s ideas. Finally, you should end your post with an open-ended question that encourages further discussion and invites your peer to share their own thoughts and ideas.
When citing and referencing articles in APA format, you should include the author’s last name and first initial, the publication date, the title of the article, the title of the journal or periodical, the volume number, and the page numbers. For example:
Smith, J. (2021). Ethical dilemmas in healthcare. Journal of Medical Ethics, 45(2), 32-46.
An example of an open-ended follow-up question might be: “How do you think these ethical dilemmas could be addressed in a more effective way?”
