2 page public health scholar-practitioner project: surveillance
The disease I have selected is diabetes. At the local level, most cities and counties have implemented Diabetes Surveillance Systems (DSS) to monitor cases of diabetes in their respective areas. These systems collect data from multiple sources including hospitals, clinics and insurance claims which are then used to inform public health policy regarding prevention and treatment options.
At the state level, many states have implemented programs such as the Public Health Data Exploration Toolkit (PHDEP) which uses a web-based platform to gather information on diabetes diagnoses, prevalence rates and related outcomes across different demographics.
Regional surveillance can also be found within individual countries where networks of hospitals work together to crowdsource data for analysis purposes. Finally at the national level there are various initiatives such as the National Diabetes Surveillance System (NDSS) that collect data from all parts of country in order better understand overall population—which can then shape future strategies accordingly .
Overall then it appears clear that through implementation these types systems able develop comprehensive picture current situation with regards any particular disease resulting improved decision making when comes both preventative/treatment measures moving forward . By understanding scope scope operations better prepared plan for whatever may come ahead thus ensuring better quality care everyone involved long run.
