This pamphlet is to educate the staff for which I am the nurse leader on a current patient safety issue.
Patient falls are an all too common occurrence within hospitals & other healthcare settings ! In order to reduce this risk , it is important that everyone involved with providing care remain vigilant & take extra precautions when caring for those who are at increased risk such as frail elderly patients or young children.
Things like properly assessing one’s environment before moving them or utilizing assistive devices appropriate to each individual’s needs can help minimize any potential danger. Additionally, making sure that bed rails are raised when appropriate and always double checking medical orders prior to administering potentially hazardous drugs may also prevent further complications.
Overall , by understanding the various ways in which we can reduce the chances of our patients falling we can greatly improve their safety! By following these simple steps and remaining aware of any changes in their condition – together we strive towards better outcomes for all
