To begin, review the lesson on the elements of a speech that are commonly evaluated. This will provide a foundation for the critique you will write.
Next, select one of the informative speeches provided and watch it, taking notes as necessary.
Using the evaluation table provided in the assignment, organize your feedback into categories such as speaker commitment to the subject, appropriateness for audience and occasion, clear purpose, fresh point of view, ethics, substance, and structure.
When writing your critique, use the guidelines for giving effective feedback provided in the lesson. Be sure to provide specific feedback about what needs to be improved and offer suggestions for how to correct any problems. End the critique with a positive statement.
Finally, put yourself in the shoes of the presenter and imagine how you would use the feedback provided to improve your next speech. Write a sentence or more about your thoughts on the critique comments and suggestions, and how you would apply them.
Once you have completed your critique and reflection, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor using the designated drop box.
