Being human consists of having the qualities that define us as a species, such as reason, emotions, intelligence and creativity. Being human also involves recognizing our own mortality, and the importance of cherishing the time we have on this earth. Qualities that make us human include empathy, compassion, kindness and love towards others; a sense of justice; respect for diversity in all its forms; a desire to learn more about ourselves and our world through exploration; an appreciation for beauty in art, literature and music; curiosity; imagination and courage to try new things. To remain human is to strive to maintain these qualities even when faced with difficulties or setbacks. It is important to protect these qualities by encouraging open dialogue between people from different backgrounds – both among individuals within our communities as well as across cultures around the globe – so that everyone can share their unique perspectives on life. Additionally, it is essential to promote social responsibility by taking action against any forms of discrimination or injustice which threaten these essential aspects of humanity.
