Objective: To ensure that the implementation of a new Health Information Technology (HIT) system is successful, meets customer needs and effectively balances project and organizational objectives with stakeholder satisfaction.
Process Areas:
1. Initiation – Establish project charter; identify stakeholders; create project team; define scope and objectives; obtain formal approval.
2. Planning – Develop project plan components (schedule, budget, risk assessment); analyze viable alternatives; determine resources needed for each task; create detailed timeline for completion of tasks.
3. Execution – Coordinate team members to complete tasks in accordance with established schedule and budget constraints; monitor progress against deadlines and milestones; provide regular updates to stakeholders on progress made.
4. Monitoring & Controlling – Track performance using earned value measurements to compare actual results against planned objectives and identify any issues or risks that may arise throughout the process which require corrective action or mitigation strategies .
5. Closing – Formally close out the project upon completion by obtaining sign-off from all stakeholders involved and ensuring final deliverables meet specified requirements outlined in the initial charter document(s).
6. Communication Management – Establish an effective communication channel between all stakeholders involved in order to share information regarding project progress as well as any issues or discrepancies that may be encountered along the way ; communicate expectations clearly in writing prior to initiating activities related to specific tasks/milestones within the overall plan .
7. Risk Management – Identify potential risks associated with this initiative early on during planning stages ; develop a Risk Mitigation Plan which outlines how these risks can best be managed if/when they occur ; regularly review this plan throughout duration of project , updating it as required based on changes occurring within individual tasks / phases of overall plan .
8 Quality Control – Utilize standardized processes which measure quality levels achieved at each stage of development ; ensure compliance with applicable regulations , standards , guidelines etc .
9 Change Management – Adapt quickly when unexpected changes occur due to external factors such as market conditions , technology innovations etc . Implement appropriate change control procedures in order to manage any such shifts while still remaining aligned with original goals outlined in initial charter document(s).
