Regulatory agencies in health care system
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is an agency of the United States Department of Health & Human Services. The FDA has regulatory authority at both the federal and state levels, with the scope of their authority covering foods, dietary supplements, drugs, biological products, medical devices as well as cosmetics.
The FDA’s role is to help ensure that these products are safe for public consumption by setting guidelines for manufacturing processes and conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance. Additionally they also have the power to issue recalls or take other corrective measures when necessary in order to protect public health. Ultimately this agency plays an important role within the US healthcare system by helping to promote safety standards while ensuring consumers have access to quality products.
