Through leadership roles such as participating on policy-making committees or developing initiatives aimed at improving population health outcomes, nurses can play an important role in creating healthier environments that promote well-being across all segments of society. By taking an active role in shaping healthcare policies and programs, nurses can help bridge gaps between those who have access to quality care and those who don’t, thus helping create more equitable systems of healthcare delivery. Furthermore, by engaging with research related to population health issues and understanding evidence-based best practices they will be better equipped when advocating for changes in government policy or working collaboratively with other stakeholders on solutions that benefit entire communities
