Discuss the characteristics of Realism and Idealism and give one example of where do you see yourself on the continuum of realism and idealism.

Realism and Idealism are two different worldviews that people can hold which have a major impact on how we perceive the world around us. Realists tend to be more pragmatic, viewing reality as it is without any sort of embellishment or optimism – they often take an analytical approach when dealing with difficult problems, focusing more on measurable outcomes rather than emotional responses. On the other hand, Idealists tend to be more idealistic and optimistic in their outlook – preferring to seek out solutions based off what could be rather than what currently is.

Personally I would identify myself as leaning slightly toward idealism due my tendency to focus on positive aspects of situations and try to look for silver linings instead of dwelling on negatives. At the same time though I also recognize the importance of being realistic when dealing with certain issues such as financial planning whereby having an understanding of real-world scenarios helps prevent me from making decisions that may not actually benefit me down the line. Ultimately then I think having this balance offers a good perspective when looking at potential opportunities while still being mindful of possible risks associated with them.
