What did you learn from your experience with Motivational Interviewing that could help your peer better address the preventive guidelines for the women in the scenario?

My experience with Motivational Interviewing has taught me that it is important to approach each individual in a way that takes into account their unique circumstances and motivations. Specifically, when addressing preventive guidelines for the women in the scenario, my peer should strive to recognize what matters most to them and focus on any potential personal benefits associated with following these recommendations as opposed to presenting them as rules or mandates.

Fostering an open dialogue between both parties can also help create an environment of trust which can lead towards better adherence over time. Additionally, my peer should be patient and allow for enough time for the women to process new information; by doing so they will have a better understanding of why certain changes are necessary which could make it easier for them to follow through on their plans. Finally acknowledging any hesitancy or resistance while still maintaining a positive attitude is key – this lets individuals know that they have been heard without judgment which can go a long way towards encouraging compliance with preventive guidelines.
