I am interested in investigating how technology has changed the way students learn. Qualitative research methods focus on understanding a phenomenon in its natural environment and is typically used to collect rich and detailed information about people’s experiences, motivations, or beliefs. Characteristics of qualitative research include flexibility for participants to express their views freely as opposed to structured questions; data collection through means such as interviews, focus groups or observation; and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.

There are four main designs for qualitative research: phenomenology which seeks to explore the meaning behind an experience; grounded theory which looks at the development of ideas over time; ethnography which examines culture within a certain context ;and case study which focuses on one particular instance or person . Given my question , I would likely use an ethnographic design as this type of investigation can provide insight into how technology is impacting learning practices within various educational settings.
