In terms of policy, EBP was initially developed as a reaction to traditional methods of care which were often outdated or lacked sufficient scientific data to support their use. As such, this approach has been incorporated into many healthcare institutions’ policies and guidelines in order to ensure that quality patient care is being delivered through evidence-based interventions rather than relying solely on provider preferences or anecdotal experience.
In summary, Evidence-Based Practice is a relatively new concept within the healthcare space that is aimed at improving decision making by utilizing current best available evidence while also promoting greater transparency between providers and patients around treatment options. Moving forward, this model will likely continue to evolve as further research is conducted and integrated into clinical practice guidelines allowing for even better outcomes for all stakeholders involved.
