The most important factor of Nightingale’s theory that I utilize in my current practice is her emphasis on the importance of environmental factors in providing quality care. She highlighted how small changes such as ensuring adequate lighting, comfortable bedding and ventilation can all play a significant role in improving patient outcomes. Additionally, she also stressed the need for nurses to be proactive when it comes to assessing and addressing patients’ needs; rather than simply following physician orders.

I have found this aspect of her theory particularly useful as it has enabled me to better understand how certain elements within healthcare settings can have a positive or negative impact on patient health. For example, if there is too much clutter or noise then it could impede healing whereas having access to nature or sunlight can help speed up recovery times. Furthermore, by being more engaged with my patients I am able to provide individualized interventions based on their specific needs which helps build trust between provider and recipient while still upholding ethical standards at all times.
