Week2 discussion roles of advance nursing
The elements of role transition from a Registered Nurse (RN) to an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) involve a period of intensive learning and skill building. This can include expanding one’s knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology and other clinical sciences; developing advanced assessment skills; deepening one’s understanding of healthcare policy and regulations; mastering new therapeutic modalities; gaining experience in patient management, clinical decision making and leadership roles; and obtaining specialized certifications or licensures as needed.
Currently, I am experiencing the process by taking additional courses to increase my expertise in areas such as public health, research methods, quality improvement initiatives and population health promotion. Additionally, I am focused on improving my communication skills through practice with peers in simulated clinical scenarios. Finally, I have begun the process of seeking out professional network opportunities to further enhance my abilities as an APN.
