Give your own examples of over-delegation, under-delegation, and refusal to accept a legitimate delegation, and explain what you would do in each case.   

Over-delegation occurs when tasks are delegated to a person or group who is unable to handle the responsibility. For example, if I was working on a project and assigned a task that required more technical knowledge than the individual had then this would be an instance of over-delegation. In this case, I would first assess the situation to determine whether it would be more beneficial to provide additional training or find someone else with greater experience in order to avoid any potential issues.

Under-delegation involves not delegating enough authority or assigning too many tasks which can lead to burnout and decreased productivity. An example of this may be if I assigned someone one task but expected them to do multiple tasks without proper coaching or guidance. To address under-delegation, I would ensure that all expectations are clearly communicated prior to beginning any work as well as providing regular feedback during the process in order for them to successfully complete their assigned duties.

Refusing a legitimate delegation happens when someone is unwilling or unable accept responsibility for certain tasks even though they have been given permission by someone else in charge. If faced with such circumstances, I would first attempt communication in order discuss why they are refusing and then propose possible solutions so they can take ownership of the task while still feeling supported throughout its completion.
