Module 7 discussion | health promotion
No, there would not be any conflicts or concerns in supporting a patient who chooses either holistic or allopathic medicine. As long as the patient is making an informed decision and their practitioner is licensed to provide medical treatment, nurses should be able to support the patient’s decision without judgment. It is important for nurses to remain impartial when it comes to these decisions as they ultimately have an ethical responsibility to do what is best for their patients regardless of which type of medicine they choose. Furthermore, by remaining openminded and offering unbiased information on both options, nurses can help facilitate more informed decisions from patients so that no matter which route they take – whether it be holistic or allopathic –they can make a well-informed choice with greater confidence in their chosen method of care.
