The theory I selected is Identity-based motivation which suggests that individuals are driven to pursue activities or goals based on their personal values and beliefs. This has potential relevance in a variety of contexts such as education, health promotion, and organizational change initiatives as it helps us better understand why people engage in certain activities and how these choices may be influenced by their identity.

For example, an educator may use this theory when considering how best to motivate students from different cultural backgrounds. Understanding the unique values and beliefs of each group can provide insight into what kind of rewards or incentives would be most effective. The same could also apply when designing health campaigns or interventions as knowledge about an individual’s identity could reveal what types of messages would resonate with them the most.
