What challenges or unexpected opportunities have arisen at your practicum site? How has this affected your professional development?

At my practicum site, I have encountered a variety of challenges and unexpected opportunities. One challenge I faced was learning to navigate the complex web of regulatory policies when dealing with certain patients or medical procedures. This required me to develop strong research skills in order to be able to quickly locate relevant information and use it effectively in my work. Additionally, there were times where I had to adjust on-the-fly due to unexpected changes such as the introduction of new technology which forced me to adapt quickly while also ensuring that all necessary protocols were followed.

These experiences have helped me become more flexible and agile when dealing with change which will be invaluable for future roles. Moreover, through having to figure out solutions under challenging circumstances, I have developed problem solving abilities that will be beneficial no matter what field I go into. All in all, these obstacles and opportunities at my practicum site have allowed me to hone both my professional skillset and personal growth capabilities which has been essential for my development as a health care professional.
