Post a description of the interview and communication techniques you
When interviewing my selected patient, I would utilize certain techniques to ensure the most effective communication. The first technique I would use is active listening. This technique involves repeating the patient’s statements to ensure understanding and empathy, which helps build trust and rapport with the patient. Second, I would use open-ended questions to gather more information from the patient about their condition or symptoms without leading them in a certain direction. Open-ended questions also give patients an opportunity to express how they feel about their symptoms and illness, which can be helpful in determining a diagnosis or treatment plan. Finally, I would use nonverbal communication cues such as direct eye contact and body language that conveys interest in order to make sure the patient feels comfortable talking with me.
These techniques are important because they demonstrate respect for the patient while promoting open dialogue between us regarding their health concerns. Active listening shows that I understand what they are saying and respect their feelings associated with their condition while engaging questions allow me to get more insight into what’s going on so we can create an appropriate treatment plan tailored specifically for them. The nonverbal communication cues are also essential as it allows for better understanding of one another without words being spoken which can improve overall comfort levels making it easier for patients to disclose further information if needed throughout our conversation
