Reflect on ethics, values and beliefs
My moral development and philosophy on life has been heavily influenced by my family and teachers. Growing up, I was taught to have a respect for all living things and to treat everyone with kindness. My parents instilled in me the importance of making positive decisions that would benefit both myself and others around me, ultimately leading to living an honest and meaningful life. As I grew older, my teachers helped shape my morals further by teaching me the importance of responsibility, integrity, loyalty, empathy, compassion and understanding. They encouraged me to think critically about how my actions affect other people as well as myself.
In addition to the guidance from those who raised or taught me directly, reading stories from authors like JK Rowling has also significantly shaped who I am today. Rowling’s Harry Potter series is filled with themes of courage, friendship, resilience and love—all values that I strongly believe are important components of a good moral compass. Through these lessons woven through books such as this one I have come to understand that being kindhearted is always rewarded; whether it be immediately or eventually down the road when karma catches up with us all.
I value honesty above almost anything else in life because it allows relationships between people to remain strong regardless of their differences; something that is so essential if we want our world to progress towards greater unity between each other despite any disparities we may have amongst ourselves. Ultimately these various sources of influence throughout my lifetime have created within me a deep sense of morality which guides everything I do everyday.
