Assignment 09: cloudy with a chance of data | HA3220D-Health Information Systems | National American University
Despite these benefits, there are also some drawbacks associated with using cloud-based storage for big data such as privacy issues related to the outsourcing of sensitive information offsite into the hands of third parties. Also, if an organization’s internet connection goes down then they may not be able to access their data stored on remote servers until service is restored which could lead to costly delays in operations or other disruptions. Additionally, depending on what services are being used, there may also be additional costs associated with bandwidth usage or other fees which can add up over time depending on an organization’s specific needs and usage patterns.
Overall, while there are both potential advantages and disadvantages associated with using cloud-based storage for big data projects, it ultimately depends on individual circumstances such as budget constraints or security concerns that would determine whether this type of solution would work best for a given situation.
