The topic I am discussing is the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. The evidence that supports this position is compelling and can be seen in both quantitative and qualitative studies. Quantitatively, research has consistently shown that children whose parents are involved in their education have higher grades, better attendance records, and improved test scores compared to those who do not receive parental involvement (Baker et al., 2018). Qualitatively, studies have demonstrated that when parents are engaged in their child’s education – whether by attending school events or providing academic support at home – it increases the likelihood of positive outcomes for the student. For example, students with more involved parents report feeling more supported and motivated to succeed (Larson & Richards, 2020).
In addition to these primary indicators of success, there are other benefits associated withparental involvement; having a parent take an interest in what they’re learning gives children confidence as well as a sense of security knowing someone cares about their progress. Furthermore, it serves to strengthen the relationship between parent and child while building trust within family dynamics (Johnson & Walker-Thomas, 2009). Therefore it is clear that parental engagement plays an integral role in fostering educational success among young people.
