Team assignment: systems thinking on a national level, ii
Second, it is important to identify any external factors or influences that may impact the health care system. These could include economic conditions, regulatory environment, political climate or social trends that can affect access to care or cost of treatment. By including these external factors into a systems thinking approach we can better understand possible areas of intervention needed to address our selected health care issue from both a short-term and long-term perspective.
Finally, when developing this type of model it is essential to consider all pathways between components which help provide an understanding as to how change in one area will affect another part within the system. In addition this process helps identify potential input/output relationships so interventions intended for one area are not affecting parts without proper consideration or intentionality. Thus accounting for these flow paths allows us the opportunity to create more intentional strategies leading toward desired outcomes in solving our selected health care issue problem at hand.
