Responsible business plan and pitch
The production part of the business will take place on a leased or purchased piece of land with greenhouses or other buildings erected if necessary. This land will be managed carefully to ensure minimal environmental disruption, and certain areas may be designated as wildlife habitat. The crops grown in this space will be certified organic, meaning they follow all guidelines prescribed by international certification authorities regarding pesticide and herbicide use.
To ensure access and affordability for all customers, we plan to partner up with various stores in our area as well as build relationships with local restaurants who can use our products in their dishes. We also plan to open up a farmers’ market stand where people can come buy directly from us at discounted prices. Finally, we would like work with food banks so that those who cannot afford fresh produce have access to it anyway.
This venture has both social and environmental benefits including providing affordable healthy food for people who cannot typically access it, protecting natural resources through responsible farming practices, increasing biodiversity by providing habitats for beneficial wildlife populations, reducing agriculture’s contribution to global warming, as well as creating job opportunities in rural communities around us.
