Family | Nursing homework help
A family is a group of people that share an emotional bond, whether related by blood or not. It includes parents, siblings, extended family members, and chosen family who may be friends or roommates. Families come in all shapes and sizes: single-parent households; same-sex couples with children; adoptive families; blended families; and more.
Acknowledging nontraditional family structures is important as it helps to normalize them and provide acceptance for individuals within those structures. The diversity of the modern family should be celebrated rather than questioned or judged. Validating new types of families provides support to those whose relationships challenge societal conventions while also expanding our understanding of what constitutes a healthy and loving environment for raising children.
