Week 9: free market reproduction learning scenario and reflection
The ethical theory I chose is deontology. Deontology is an ethical theory that emphasizes the importance of moral duties and obligations, rather than consequences or outcomes, when making decisions. This philosophy holds that one should always act in accordance with certain universal moral principles, regardless of the outcome. According to this principle, an action is morally right if it follows a certain set of rules or laws such as the Golden Rule (treat others as you would like to be treated). Deontologists believe that there are some actions which are inherently wrong and can never be justified by any means – such as murder or stealing – regardless of their potential outcomes. Thus moral choices must not be based on a utilitarian approach but instead on the basis of obligation and duty.
