Demonstrative communication involves actively listening and responding to the other person. This type of communication emphasizes understanding the needs, thoughts, feelings and motivations of others in order to effectively communicate with them. Demonstrative communication includes both verbal cues (such as speaking) and non-verbal cues (such as body language). Listening involves paying attention to what is being said, using active listening skills such as paraphrasing or asking clarifying questions. Responding involves providing feedback or a response that acknowledges and validates what was said or expresses an understanding of the other person’s perspective.
