Bus 311 wk 3 assignment & week 5
Personal liability for injuries to consumers caused by a product can be either financial or legal depending on the circumstances. If an individual is found to be responsible for manufacturing, selling, or distributing a defective product that causes injury to a consumer, they may face monetary damages and/or criminal charges. In some cases, personal liability may also extend to anyone who had knowledge of the defect but failed to act appropriately in preventing harm from occurring. Depending on the severity of the injury and negligence involved with creating, marketing, or selling the product, fines can range from thousands up to millions of dollars as well as possible jail time. It’s important for individuals in any business related to products sold directly (or indirectly) to consumers understand their responsibilities when it comes to safety and protection from potential harm.
