Project health promotion week4 | Nursing homework help
Four mortality and morbidity risk factors for my selected population of elderly individuals include:
1. Poor diet and nutrition: The elderly often have difficulty getting enough calories or nutrients due to their reduced appetite, inability to shop/cook for themselves, or financial difficulties. This can lead to malnutrition which increases vulnerability to infections and other health problems.
2. Limited physical activity/sedentary lifestyle: As people age they tend to become less active which can contribute to obesity, an increased risk of falls, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic conditions.
3. Substance abuse: The elderly are particularly vulnerable to substance abuse issues such as alcohol misuse or the overuse of medications due the availability of prescription drugs as well as changes in metabolism that occur with aging.
4. Social isolation: Isolation from family members or friends is common among older adults who may no longer be able drive or live independently leading them at higher risk for depression and anxiety disorders as well as increased mortality rates
