How the legal system protects people who are injured by the
Our legal system protects persons who are injured by the purposeful act of another through a number of avenues. First, it provides the person with recourse to file a lawsuit against the perpetrator for damages. This could include medical bills, lost wages from being unable to work due to their injury, and/or pain and suffering they have endured as a result of the injury. Additionally, our legal system also provides criminal penalties for those found guilty of intentionally injuring another person. These can include jail time or fines depending on the severity of the crime committed. Lastly, laws exist that protect individuals from future harm by prohibiting certain activities or requiring specific safety measures in certain situations (e.g., workplace safety standards). All these measures exist to help protect individuals from being harmed by someone else’s intentional actions.
