Assignment 2: public health and health care services
Currently, public health services and medical practice services work in collaboration to address healthcare issues. Public health initiatives focus on prevention through education, regulation of medical products and services, surveillance of disease outbreaks, immunization campaigns, and other population-level interventions aimed at improving overall wellbeing. Medical practices provide individualized care through diagnosis and treatment of diseases as well as chronic disease management. Collaborations between public health service providers and medical practitioners often take the form of multi-agency initiatives that seek to tackle specific healthcare concerns affecting their local populations (e.g., collaborations to reduce rates of smoking or obesity). Such collaborations can also involve data sharing between agencies in order to identify high risk patients so they can be better targeted with preventative measures.
